Project Requirements
Your project will need to include the following things. If at any point you think you are finished, it would be in your best interest to stop here and mentally check off each item on this list before turning your project in.
Design Requirements
Paper Size 8.5''x11'' - Your advertisement must be 8.5 inches wide by 11 inches long.
Use of Whole Page - This is digital lesson, therefor you should use all space in the page, ignoring the "dotted print border" seen on every Publisher File. Balanced Layout - When designing your advertisement, balancing the parts of your page will be very important. Those parts include photographs, text, shapes, etc. Hint: This is not a "copy and paste" process but instead, your page should be well thought out with focal points and emphasized text. Use of Photography - You are required to use at least one photograph taken during class time by you (not your camera partner). You cannot use photographs from the internet. You may use more than one photograph but remember not to make your page too busy with unnecessary items. Use of Page Parts - I would like to see the use of either Publisher's "advertisements", "business information", or "page parts" tool at least once - even if it's just a simple addition. You can use all three tools but again, remember you want this to be effective and not busy. Attention to Color - Use colors that compliment each other and work well together. Think back to 5th grade and our recent unit on the Principles/Elements. What colors help your item stand out? Can I reflect the item better using similar colors, etc? Assessment
This project will be worth 100 points. Sounds like a lot? You will be graded on the above requirements of course, but out of all of them your creativity will weigh the heaviest. Other attributes in your grade include your ability to work within a digital environment and your time management.

Advertisement Requirements
Name of Product - I will need to be able to see, without a doubt, what you are advertising: event, product, item, service. Hint: Using wordart can be fun but is sometimes too distracting. Think simple but effective.
Price of Product - Ask yourself: How much will I be spending if I use your service? Do I get a deal if I buy more than one? Will I need to make payments? Is that an option? Is your item on sale right now? Reason to Buy - Think! Include a reason I would want to buy your product or service. What about it makes me not only want to buy it but buy it from you rather than someone else? Contact Information - How do I get your information? Remember, this is not a flyer posted on a wall; it will be in a magazine so where can I go or what website can I use to order this item? If I have questions, where do I go? Extras to Consider
Who your audience is - who do you want buying your product? How can you cater your advertisement specifically to those people?
Humor - How can you add an element of humor to your advertisement? The advertisement needs to be in all seriousness but that doesn't mean a little humor won't help your product sell? Element of Unique - Do you wish to include a disclaimer? A warranty? Maybe a QR code or bar code for more information? What can you do to make your product stand out amongst your classmates'? |
