Senior pictures are a milestone in any teenager's life and if you have older siblings you know how exciting they can be. Even if you don't have siblings, seeing those well posed, fancy pictures always remind us that we'll someday also have those taken.
The key to a good senior pictures is focusing completely on the individual in the photograph; including interests and highlight regarding what features are best in the person. Lighting and coloring can be great attributes of effective senior photography.
For the more sentimental at heart, choosing the project will allow you to foster some of the more creative photography and Photoshop skills.
Use style.
Some of the best photographers take it to the next level - this senior's focus is her cheer leading but the intensity of the photo is in her eyes? What will your style be?
Requirements
Use of Photoshop: You must use Photoshop to complete this assignment choice.
Amount of Photos: You must complete and turn in 3 senior pictures using a person of your choosing. Unfortunately, you are limited to your classmates so keep in mind their time is just as precious as yours. My suggestion is to take 8-10 high quality photographs to work with and pick the three that are the most workable for you.
Composition: In these photographs, it is important to mind the Rule of Thirds and other composition aspects that make effective photographs. Who is your focus and what other details will you have? Imagine this photograph will be with them forever and you need to make the best work of that.
Creativity: You should be creative in your photographs and editing. Think about coloring, contrast, filters, and even mixing and matching tools. Changing the color of eyes or making just the background black and white can go a long way in making effective photographs. What can you do to make the senior pictures you take stand out?
Craftsmanship: Your images should look professional and well edited. Using filters can be effective and fun but remember, these should still focus on the person in the picture; not your ability to use multiple tools.
Assessment
This project will be worth 100 points. Sounds like a lot? You will be graded on the above requirements of course, but out of all of them your creativity and composition will weigh the heaviest. Other attributes in your grade include your ability to work within a digital environment and your time management.
