Mashup (Mash-uhp, n.) Slang: a creative combination or mixing of content: ex. two songs mixed together to sound like one
A photography mash up is the combination of two or more photographs in a creative but obvious way. This can be as simple as taking the head of one person and placing it on another or as detailed or complicated as creating a hybrid figure of multiple people and animals.
Not for the serious at heart, choosing this as your project means you have a sense of humor and so do your subjects.
Test yourself.
Popular photo sites like "FaceinHole" allow people to do quick mashups like this one (Queen Elizasmith). Can you be creative and mash up your own photos?
Requirements
Use of Photoshop: You must use Photoshop to complete this assignment choice.
Amount of Mashups: You must complete and turn in 3 Mashups using photographs taken during class time (in otherwords, you need to take at least six or more photographs to use).
Creativity: You should be creative in your mashups. Just putting a face on another body doesn't bring a laugh; what the body is doing or how the facial expressions look can change everything. Consider the background of the image as well. Use coloring, contrast, and filters to really portray your ideas. Enlarge eyes, exaggerate expressions, add animal characteristics or parts. Go for it!
Craftsmanship: Your images should blend together easily; after some practice in Photoshop, this should be understood and portrayed in your mashups. The mashups should look complete and well done, something that could be published professionally.
Assessment
This project will be worth 100 points. Sounds like a lot? You will be graded on the above requirements of course, but out of all of them your creativity will weigh the heaviest. Other attributes in your grade include your ability to work within a digital environment and your time management.
